My Itinerary

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Okay, here it is:

Sunday, Sept. 27: Leave Manchester, NH. My mom is bringing me to the airport (thanks, mom!), we'll have lunch there and I will be on my way---to a connecting flight to D.C. Then it's D.C. to:

9/28: Munich! But wait, it's an 8 hour flight. Upgrades could be possible. Fryepod Jr. will be fully charged.

9/28: Munich! And a 7:30 am arrival time ! I'll check my bags into the hotel I'm staying at and then explore! I need to get out, take a walk or a bike tour. I heard that Mike's bike tours are the way to go. I'll be in a European city, there's lots of things to see. Until early afternoon. Then it's all business. I will not, on my first visit to Oktoberfest, stand in line. Early afternoon, around 12:01, I'm plopping myself down in one of those tents and getting my first litre of beer. Then a second one. Then I should probably get some food: giant pretzels, pigs knuckles, something! Maybe I'll wander over to the Hippodrome Tent. Is wander the right word?

9/29: Munich: I'm conflicted as to whether I wish my hotel has free internet access or not. How willing am I to potentially write things I might regret, like gibberish? Fmenowant, ha ha hw! (If only we will be so lucky). On the other hand it could be a wild ride for the rest us though, korrekt?

9/30: A short train ride to Salzburg, Austria. I'll probably need to take it easy. Home of Mozart though. Gotta try Mozartkugel, right? Anyway, there's a funicular to the highest point overlooking the city and free concerts for those of us that are beginners with Classical music. I just think that might be a cool thing to do.

P.S. Samantha..call me ;)

10/1: A longer train ride from Salzburg to Switzerland, La Chaux-de-Fonds. About 8 hours. The train also goes through Liechtenstein on its way. I don't know why I'm excited about that, but I am! And this begins the part of my trip when I'll have free lodging as I will be staying with people that I either know or with friends of friends. In Switzerland, I'll be staying with a friends sister and her husband.

Sunday, Oct. 4: Switzerland to Provence, France. Staying in Vaison La Romaine with a family friend, a countess. I found this out recently so there will be plenty to talk about! Also, there is a farmer's market that takes over the town every Tuesday...since 1523!

Wednesday, Oct. 7: Leave Vaison for Paris. Oh boy, Paris. Back to hotels and/or hostels. There is so much to do here but I think I have a plan. I have to climb the Eiffel Tower, walk the Champs de Elysees, picnic, have dinner at a nice restaurant. There is a different side of Paris to see that I have read about: underground. The catacombs sound less stinky than the sewer tour. I'll have to think about that one. Where's a good place to think..hmmm?

Friday, Oct. 9: Paris to Amsterdam. 4 to 5 hour train ride. I thought about spending a night in Brussels but I think a Friday night in Amsterdam would be pretty cool. I booked a hotel room in the Jordaan quarter. My friend Chris is coming after work to spend the night in the city and we'll paint the town red. Well, that might not be the best expression in this case, but you know what I mean. It's the 'Dam! Then for the next night or two or three I'll be staying with Chris, his lovely wife Yvonne and his baby girl, Esmay, who is going to be teaching me words. I also believe I was offered to borrow their second car, a 1988(?) yellow Volvo, named Lilly. From what I gathered, it might get me from point A to point B---"It will be an adventure, right?". Chris, I am definitely taking you up on that offer.

10/13: Amsterdam-Zurich-Boston

This guy is going to have fun:

There's a naked park in Munich that you could always spend some time in that morning. Hope you've been doing your sit-ups.

Well, yeah! Do I have to be naked to walk there or can I get naked when I'm at the park? And how naked are we talking about?

This is Europe we're talking about. How naked do you think? And you might want to wait to strip down until you're actually in the park. Just a suggestion. Although if you're wearing Berks then they probably won't arrest you.

You HAVE to see Mirabella gardens in Salzburg. And hike the Untesburg (sp?) Mountains. There may still be an old train running up there to the salt mines! :D Stop in Interlaken, Switzerland, too!! FUN!! So much to do there!!

I rappelled down a ravine with my good friend Joe Lobisco in Interlaken.

Is there nothing J. Lobisco can't do?
